TENNESSEE VALLEY (WHNT) – Get ready for another surge of arctic air. Temperatures this morning are in the teens and lower 20s. Expect readings to be 10°-15° colder Friday morning!

Here are your highs for today. Note: Temperatures max out just before noon before falling through the day. Combine that with a gusty northwest wind, wind chill factors will likely be in the single digits and teens this afternoon. Winds will gust over 25 mph at times today.

Here is your temperature trend for the next several mornings. We’ll start Friday morning around 6°. Another shot of very cold air moves in next week! Some models are hinting at temperatures near 0° for parts of the Tennessee Valley. Something to keep an eye on. Right now we’ll have a morning low next Tuesday of 8°.

This cold stretch is something we haven’t seen in a very long time in the Tennessee Valley. Here is a look at the number of days Huntsville has been below the 10° mark in recent years. We’ve already been that cold twice as of this morning. Friday morning will be number three and next week we’ll add to that. Last year and in 2012, we didn’t go below 10° at all. It only happened once in 2011 though we had record snow in January. In 2010, we didn’t, but we had a stretch of nine mornings in a row where temperatures were in the teens.
