This is kind of tacky that you title the story like you did and show a picture of a restaurant that it is not applicable to. Now people will see the headline and picture and think they go together which they do not.

Sensationalist title with a picture of a restaurant I’m sure a lot more people have eaten at than the applicable one… Unfortunately, the primary focus of “journalism” these days tends to be getting views.

To be fair, I still appreciate the reports and am disturbed by the review for 88 Buffet, which coincides with other things I’ve heard about the place.

This is a good example of why I do not watch news anymore. I would appreciate the reports also if they were not so misleading but you are correct, it is about views not truth or the whole story but only what gets ratings. Now I hope the reporter of this article is happy when 88 buffet looses customers because they think they have rodents.

That’s right! How dare they! Th erodents at 88 aren’t running around at all! They’re dead, cooked to proper temperature and served iimmediately! Sheesh.

Very disappointed in WHNT 19 on the reporting of the review for 88 Buffet…. absolute sensationalism at a small business owners expense. I have eaten there, enjoyed the food. And will go back. Reports like this should be there to honestly inform the public and encourage businesses to be operating at their best. I think there should be more oversight by a chief editor, and a public retraction and apology, showing that they do not have mice and highlighting what they are doing to remedy the few things that were wrong and increase their score. Carrie Marchese encouraging Huntsvillians not to trust a private business based on bogus reporting makes me distrust the news outlet.

De, and others, your point is completely valid. The image we put with the story, for the headline, was not the restaurant that had the rodents. You’re absolutely right. I have changed the image and I will make sure the person who chose the image for the story knows about the error. We apologize. I assure you it wasn’t sensationalism in choosing this image. It was an oversight.

Thanks Claire. I doubt it was the intent, but as others have mentioned, many people will see the picture next to the headline and automatically assume 88 Buffet is the one with the rats. Of course, they’d find out otherwise if they read the article, but nonetheless isn’t fair to the restaurant.
