FREELAND, Pa. – A man facing criminal charges appears to have led police right to himself, via Facebook.
Freeland, Pennsylvania Police posted a photo on their Facebook page of Anthony James “Jimi” Lescowitch. Their post indicated Lescowitch, 35, was wanted for “aggravated assault and numerous other charges.”
Police had reportedly been searching for Lescowitch since November 2013.
Lescowitch reportedly saw that Facebook post and couldn’t resist sharing it on his own Facebook page. That’s when things apparently began to unravel.
After he shared the post, an undercover police officer posed as an attractive woman, went on Facebook and told Lescowitch “she” wanted to meet him. The woman couldn’t talk him into meeting for a drink, but convinced him to tell her where he was so they could meet and have a cigarette.
Police pulled up, Lescowitch went outside, and then he was arrested.
Less than two hours after their original post, police again posted the photo of Lescowitch which they captioned “CAPTURED!!!!!! SHARES OUR STATUS ON FACEBOOK ABOUT HIMSELF, CAPTURED 45 MINUTES LATER.”
Lescowitch was held in the Luzerne County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
