In the wake of recent high-profile security hacks at retailers and major companies, password security is more important than ever. That’s why you may be surprised to see the list of the 25 most common passwords of 2013.

As CBS News reports, according to password management company SplashData, the top three passwords of the year are “123456,” “password” and “12345678.”

The company’s list of the “25 worst passwords of the year” was reportedly compiled using data that hackers have posted online, which are said to be stolen passwords.

Here are the 25 most common passwords of 2013, along with the change in rank from last year:

    this list is stupid we only use these on stupid sites with stupid programers that need a password to let us in to a site that doesnt need security

    I totally believe this. If you can’t trust a hacker, who can you trust?
