HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)– A recent audit of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission board that oversees the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville shows several areas where improvements are needed at the state agency.
The audit was filed by the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts, and involved activity between October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2012. Our news partners at The Huntsville Times reported this Wednesday.
The report reveals eight noncompliance items that vary in topic, from longevity payments for employees to failure to comply with the Alabama Open Meetings Act.
U.S. Space & Rocket Center spokesman Tim Hall said the state agency is complying with the audit’s findings, according to a statement sent to our news partners at AL.com Wednesday.
The report, which was presented to the Commission in October last year, said the Commission has 18 members who are appointed by the governor to eight year terms.
