HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Sci-Quest, Hands-on Science Center is preparing for a grand re-opening at its new location in Huntsville on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 9 a.m.

The public is invited to attend and see the new site of the Science Center, where interactive science demos and hands-on activities will be scheduled throughout the day.

Beginning in February, Sci-Quest will resume on-site education programs and special events including field trips and birthday parties. Sci-Quest will host a special Parents’ Night Out on Friday, Feb. 14 for Valentine’s Day and another on Saturday, Feb. 22. Parents’ Night Out will then continue every first Saturday and third Friday of each month.

Home School Science and Sprouting Scientists will continue at an off-site location through February. For more information and updates about these programs, visit www.sci-quest.org.

Sci-Quest has been closed to the public since Nov. 30 to move out of Calhoun Community College, which housed Sci-Quest for the last 15 years. Sci-Quest relocated due to Calhoun’s plans for its own expansion at the Huntsville campus. Even during the two-month closure, Sci-Quest has continued with its education programs for the community.

“We are excited to re-open our doors to the public and let them explore our new location,” said Cyndy Morgan, Sci-Quest’s Executive Director. “Our goal is to be a state-of-the-art community science center that the public will use as a hands-on educational resource for all ages.”

Sci-Quest is now located at 1435 Paramount Drive in Huntsville, off of University Drive. The Science Center will be open seven days a week: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $9 for children and $9 for seniors. Children 2 and under are free. Memberships are available. For more information, call Sci-Quest at 256-837-0606 or visit www.sci-quest.org.
