TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (CBS Sports)- Though Doug Nussmeier hasn’t been officially announced as Michigan’s new offensive coordinator, Alabama reportedly already has an interview for his replacement.
Former Tennessee and USC head coach Lane Kiffin could speak with Nick Saban as soon as Thursday to fill that role as offensive coordinator.
Kiffin was in Tuscaloosa for Sugar Bowl preparations or what Saban called brainstorming for offensive ideas.
CBS Sports says, while Kiffin is a free agent in the coaching community, the meeting does not necessarily mean that future employment is going to be a topic of conversation.
Former Alabama quarterback Freddie Kitchens also emerged as a candidate, sources told our news partners at AL.com on Thursday morning.
