GURLEY, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities has restored power to a section of Gurley including US Hwy 72 from Moontown Road east to the Madison County Line and from Ryland Pike south to Cherry Tree Road.

With the persistent cold weather expected to continue through tonight, system stress created by the high demand for electricity could cause additional outages, says a spokesperson with Huntsville Utilities.

They say if you experience an outage, please turn off your heating system, lights, and non-essential appliances. When power is restored, please wait approximately 15 minutes before re-starting your heating system, as a slow return to normal usage will assist Huntsville Utilites crews in maintaining stability throughout the entire electrical system and reduce the possibility of additional outages.

If you have an outage or a service emergency, please call 256-53LIGHT (5-4448) for immediate assistance.
