Burst Sprinkler Pipe Shuts Down Dermatology Associates
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – It was business as usual Tuesday at Dermatology Associates on Balmoral Drive in Huntsville until about 3:00 p.m. That’s when you might say, the dam burst.
One of the partners in the practice, Dr. John Sowell says, “When the girls came back to my part of the office with their pant legs rolled up and their feet wet, I said, what’s going on? She said well, the front’s all flooded. So it happened quickly.”
A sprinkler supply line has frozen and burst sending a flood of water through the practice. Dr. Sowell showed us the damage, “We started having water coming down from the ceiling and flooded our lobby and some of the ceiling and the dry wall actually fell down in the front foyer.”
While nobody was hurt, the damage is extensive and the practice is going to be closed for the rest of the week. “With the restoration, dehumidifying process and taking the drywall down and replacing it,” Sowell added, “For at least a week, the dermatology and allergy practice will be closed.”
They hope to have the power back on by Thursday. In the meantime, they’ll be trying to get in touch with patients so they can reschedule their appointments.
