Fire at Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office Due to Electrical Issues

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Fire officials are investigating a blaze that broke out at the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office  Saturday night.

The fire started early Saturday evening. The road was blocked off for several hours as firefighters worked to put out the blaze. According to Fayetteville Fire Department Chief Danny Travis the official cause of the fire was a result of electrical issues.

Officials say the fire started in the basement. The offices are on the second and third floors.

Several criminal case files from the early 1990's were damaged but current and open undamaged case files housed upstairs have since been moved to District Attorney Carter's temporary office location.

The blaze comes after a Friday night fire at the Lincoln County Jail, which investigators have ruled an arson case. An inmate reportedly set his mattress on fire. One law enforcement officer was injured in that blaze but no inmates were hurt.
