The Downtown Advocate of the Year was selected without a list of nominees.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate 2013, as the city looks ahead to great things this year.
Chad Emerson, CEO of Downtown Huntsville, Inc. joined us Thursday, January 2 on WHNT News 19 at Noon to talk about where the downtown revitalization effort stands.
“It’s going great. One of the things – we’ve been on the ground for about four or five months now, and what we’ve found is it’s hard to find a dynamic, growing city that also doesn’t have a dynamic, growing downtown,” said Emerson. “You look at our peer cities – the Chattanoogas, the Greenvilles, and see their successes, and alot of it has to do with their downtowns. So we’re going to replicate that, and we think we’re going to exceed it in alot of respects.”
Look for more in-depth interviews with Chad Emerson in the near future on WHNT.com. We look forward to beginning a new initiative to highlight downtown Huntsville happenings.
