Huntsville Police Arrest 5 For DUI on New Year’s

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police have released the results of traffic safety checkpoints held over New Year’s Eve.

Five people were arrested for driving under the influence.  There was one misdemeanor issued, 59 citations and two vehicles were impounded.

Police staffed several checkpoints at different hot spots, looking for drunk drivers and people not wearing seat belts.

    At least these 5 won’t be taking a life this New Years! DUI= Dying under the influence. Alcohol/Drugs are a equal opportunity Destroyer! Amen..

    I don’t see why they don’t publish the names of the people who were arrested. There’s nothing like public scrutiny to make people think twice in the future. Maybe next year they will keep their drinking at home or have a designated driver.

    I think Huntsville Police Department need a chill pill. Look, other THAN big sping park, there was no action anywhere. These guys should just have the city to themselves. Period. I mean, they compromise business EVERYWHERE with their presence and actions. CHILL OUT! it ain’t that bad.

  • I would be curious to know how many people, total, came through the checkpoints that night.
