Have a Live Christmas Tree? Recycle it!

TENNESSEE VALLEY, (WHNT) – One of the many holiday traditions is picking out your own live tree to be trimmed and decorated. However, what do you do with it once Christmas is over?

Fear not, WHNT News 19 is compiling a list of places where you can recycle your live Christmas trees and avoid a trip to the dump.

DeKalb: You can drop live trees off at the DeKalb County Lake at 720 County Road 194 in Sylvania. You can drop it off at the park anytime. Even if they are not open, you can leave the tree at the gate.

Huntsville: Natural Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens mulch pile (East of the main entrance) from from Dec.26 through Jan. 15.  The trees will be recycled and the mulch will added to the cities mulch pile. Mulch is free for citizens of Huntsville to use in their own landscaping. For questions or concerns please contact the Huntsville Botanical Gardens at  256-830-4447.
