UPDATE: Police Track Down Alleged Dollar General Robber

Huntsville, Ala. (WHNT) – UPDATE: Some good old fashion police work apparently made quick work of capturing the man police say robbed a Dollar General Store on U.S. 72  Monday night.

36-year-old Christopher Wayne Marshall is charged with Robbery 1st Degree.

Police say  patrol officers found a car near the Walmart on University matching the description given during a robbery at the Dollar General.

Officers tell WHNT News 19 inside the car they found evidence related to a robbery that happened at the Dollar General store minutes before. Investigators were able to use Walmart security cameras to capture an image of Marshall and tracked him down at Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet.

It happened just before 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Dollar General store on U.S. 72 near Old Railroad Bed Road.

Officers say a man entered the store with a handgun.  They say he then struck an employee with the gun several times.  Investigators say the employee did not sustain serious injuries.

The man left with cash and property.  Police are still looking for the offender.
