ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed an Etowah County inmate died Sunday after she was transported to a local hospital.

Investigators say 57-year-old Sheron Davis Thomas of Gadsden appeared to have died of natural causes.

Sheriff Entrekin said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Thomas family during this untimely loss.”

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case.

Thomas was being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a parole violation for distribution of a controlled substance.

What about the lady that has been waiting to go to trial for eight years, in Etwah County jail?? Waiting on her to die so she won’t own Etowah County, when they are forced to dissmiss all charges, because she will not plead guilty to get out, and the State’s Atty. is too scared to go to trial. Let her go home and try to reattach to her childern, that have grown up with their mother in (county jail waiting for trial). Where is this lady’s JUSTICE. To the point Etowah County jail is like a Blackhole what goes in never comes out alive. They REALLY need an investigation of their whole system over there. I try not to even drive through it.

Typical of jails! Why would they hold an inmate that frail for such a triffling violation as ‘probabtion violation for distributing a controlled substance’…Natural causes? Really? They never want anybody out of there because the longer they hold an inmate, the more money they get from the state! There is only a couple of ways out of jail. either you pay your bond, win your case or just plead guilty and do the time. As for all else, the lawyers, judges, sheriffs, police all have a stake. the more inmates they have the ‘brighter’ their political careers or whatever. Merry Xmas.
