WHNT’s free apps helpful in severe weather

TENNESSEE VALLEY (WHNT) – We offer a number of free apps to help you stay weather aware.

WHNT News 19’s apps are available for iOS and Android.  They offer updated news and weather information and live streaming, if we’re on the air with severe weather coverage.  You can watch our live newscasts when they’re on, too.

Here is more information about each of the apps we offer.

WHNT’s main app updates instantly and offers news, weather, sports and live streaming video.  When we’re on the air, you can watch our newscasts right there on your mobile device.  Download it today for iOS or Android.

We also send out alerts for breaking news, weather, sports and traffic.  You can turn off these notifications or adjust ‘quiet time’ so the alerts won’t wake you up.  By default, ‘quiet time’ is turned on from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Our all-new Live Alert 19 weather app offers live streaming, current conditions, daily and hourly forecasts for any U.S. location you plug in.  You can use the interactive, zoomable map with precipitation and layers you can add to track different storm features.  Get storm and lighting alerts based on locations you enter.  Also, watch the latest video forecast from the WHNT News 19 Meteorologists and check their latest blog posts on Valleywx.com!  Download the app on for iOS iOS or Android.

WHNT Alabama SAF-T-Net® is free to every resident of the State of Alabama. It is a fully automatic weather warning system that’s simple to use and more specific than an outdoor warning siren. This app allows you to input up to four places to be monitored for severe weather alerts, including your smart phone’s current location. WHNT Alabama SAF-T-Net will alert you through push notifications about impending weather danger. The WHNT Alabama SAF-T-Net® app is available on iTunes and Google Play. If you don’t have a smart phone, you can still sign up for the WHNT Alabama SAF-T-Net®email/text alert option.
