Troy Football Player Arrested, Charged with Murder

TROY, Ala. (WHNT) — According to the CBS affiliate WAKA, Troy University confirms Dimitri Miles, the man charged with murder following this morning’s shooting death on South Brundidge Street, was a Troy Trojan football player. According to WAKA, he was academically ineligible to play this past season.

21 year old Miles of La Fayette, Georgia is being held on murder charges at Pike County Jail. His bond is set at $100,000. Troy Police responded to a call of shots fired at Trojan Crossing Apartments on Sunday morning.

Troy Police identify the victim as 26 year old Marquise Jermaine McClendon of Troy.

Dimitri Miles has been immediately suspended from Troy University as a result of these charges until such time they have been settled.
