‘Lanai’ is the Winning Word in Union Hill’s Spelling Bee
MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Students in Morgan County were minding their P’s and Q’s, and all the other letters Wednesday morning.
WHNT News 19′s Carson Clark served as the word caller for the Union Hill School Spelling Bee.
Students in the second through eighth grades participated, and fourth grader Lucky Royster spelled the winning word, ‘lanai’. Way to go, Lucky!
In case you’re wondering what ‘lanai’ means – we were too – so we looked it up. It’s a veranda or roofed patio. Or, the capitalized form of the word, Lanai, is one of the Hawaiian islands.
