TENNESSEE VALLEY (WHNT) - WHNT News 19 is Taking Action for consumers with our Better Business Bureau/WHNT News 19 Action Line.
Tuesday night for two hours, BBB employees took more than 130 calls in our studio. The phone didn't stop ringing! They took your questions, concerns, and in some cases, tips.
"So many people turn to us to check out companies before we do business, even if you see there has been a lot of complaints and they haven't been addressed, if you have one, let us know because as those expire, then we are not going to be able to tell the story that this company continues to have the same issues," said Michele Mason, President of the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama.
Callers reported scams, unscrupulous businesses and asked about ways to protect their identity.
The work doesn't end here. Don't forget you can hop online any time to check out a business, non-profit or reputable charity at http://northalabama.bbb.org. Or, call the WHNT News 19/BBB Consumer Action Line at (256) 850-0719. It's open Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
And if you're ever feeling pressure to make a decision before you've done your homework, just take a breath and think on it.
"We always say education is the best protection," said Mason.
