VIDEO: Thieves Smash Huntsville Gas Station With Truck Then Make Off With ATM
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Officers responded to Valley’s Gas ‘N Go on Bob Wallace Avenue around 2am upon an alarm activation. On arrival officers found the front glass door was heavily damaged.
Clerk Nicole Quick says she certainly had an atypical day. She says she was awoken around 5am when the store’s owner called her to let her know she would be dealing with some unusual circumstances when she arrived Monday morning for her shift; like having no front door, for instance.
“He let me know it was going to be a mess,” says Quick. I got here, door busted in, windows missing, ice machine sitting out in the middle of the floor, ATM gone.”
The gas station security camera showed two unknown male offenders used a pickup truck to gain entry through the front door.
The offenders then took the ATM located inside the business and placed it in the bed of the pickup. The offenders left in an unknown direction.
Quick says in her nearly 3 years of working at the location near the intersection of Jordan Lane it’s certainly not the first time she’s seen people get desperate.
“They do,” says Quick, “and the way the economy has been and everything else it’s going to happen unfortunately.”
Quick says the store owners do have insurance and repair on the building’s facade began early Monday Morning. No arrests have yet been made.
Police were not able to obtain a license plate number but do have a good idea of the vehicle they are looking for. The offenders appeared to be driving a 70′s model Chevrolet pickup truck with white doors and hood.
