BREAKING: Tigers Beat Tide 34-28 to Win Iron Bowl 2013

Tiger Fans Take the Field
UPDATE: Auburn Tigers win the 2013 Iron Bowl beating number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide 28-34 in an amazing finish. The Tigers are now headed to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta on Dec. 7.
Coach Nick Saban lobbied to get one more second on the clock for one more play, hoping to kick a field goal. It ended up backfiring on him.
With one second left on the clock, Alabama attempted a 57-yard field goal that came down in the endzone. Auburn player Chris Davis caught the ball deep in the endzone and ran the ball back for a touchdown!
In the post-game news conference, Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn said, “The way we won the last two weeks is really unbelievable. Our guys believe. They weathered the storm.”
Malzahn continued, “It’s just been an amazing year so far. It’s not over yet. Obviously, huge win. The program is going in the right direction. I really like coaching the kids.”
When asked about going to the SEC Championship Game Coach Malzahn said, “That’s what you coach for. That’s what these kids play for to get a chance to win an SEC Championship.”
Before the game, this was anticipated to be the best Iron Bowl in history and the action on the field definitely made sure the game lived up to the hype.

Who would have thought that McCarron’s 99-yard touchdown pass would have not been the biggest play of the game?
Davis appears to have run the ball 109 yards for the touchdown.
Absolutely phenomenal job by Chris Davis and the Auburn Tigers.
This is the craziest ending to an Iron Bowl ever.
The Auburn team was upset about the extra second put back on the clock at eh end of the game, assuming that the Tide would attempt a Hail Mary. It was that call, and Bama’s decision to kick a fieldgoal, that gave Auburn the opportunity to steal the game!
The field is covered with fans!
Auburn is on the way to the SEC Championship!
This Iron Bowl will be talked about for ages as the game Auburn stole in the final seconds of the game!
It’s unbelievable! The 57 yard fieldgoal attempt came down in the endzone. Auburn player Chris Davis caught the ball deep in the endzone and ran the ball back for a touchdown!

Alabama off to a shaky start in the first half. Their defense didn’t quite have it together, unable to get on the same page. Quarterback AJ McCarron was throwing off target, too. Auburn capitalized on on that and put two big touchdowns up.
But, Alabama got their act together and got in synch. They put up three touchdowns to give them the lead going in to the second half.
Auburn will get the ball first in the second half. Alabama will have to stop them quickly to keep their momentum down if they want to keep the lead.
Auburn head coach Gus Malzhan says getting a quick touchdown drive will be key to winning the second half.
Alabama is 73-3 when leading at the half.
Alabama will run out the clock and end the second quarter.

Auburn has started strong! In their first three downs, they almost caught Alabama off guard with a very catchable pass deep in the field.
Quick start for Auburn. They run a no huddle offense designed to keep your opponent off balance. This strategy relies heavily on the quarterback to run the offense.

That was Foster’s second missed field goal this year.
The kicker, Cade Foster, appeared to be off balance. He hooked the shot to the left.

A handoff on the first play of the game to Yeldon found a huge hole! Yeldon got a first down at the 45 yard line.
The Crimson Tide has won the coin toss and will receive first.
Nick Saban says this is a game with a lot of emotion in it. He says the key to this game will be to focus completely on this game.
Putting everything else aside was something he stressed earlier this week.
Both teams have taken the field! The energy is electric inside the stadium!
What’s at stake: This is a winner take all game. The winner goes on to the SEC Championship, and possibly the BCS Championship.
Both teams were confident earlier this week at their press conferences. Alabama head coach Nick Saban seemed to be in a good mood. He even made a joke when he spoke to the media! Auburn head coach Gus Malzhan was his normal short-spoken self, but one thing was clear– he was ready to win.
It’s an absolutely beautiful day at The Plains. It’s a perfect day for a game that will make history no matter what happens.
