HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-- The first person in line at Best Buy in Huntsville Thursday held his position for nearly 24 hours braving frigid temperatures in hopes of scoring on some early Black Friday deals.

Hundreds of people stood in long lines at stores across the Tennessee Valley drawn by the promise of scoring some big discounts on everything from television sets to vacuum cleaners.

Off duty Huntsville Police officers were stationed outside many of the stores participating in the early shopping frenzy Thursday but did not report any issues with the big crowds.
