“Sign Up To Round Up” Offers Easy Way To Support Schools Each Month
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Serving your Madison County, Madison City, and Huntsville City public schools could cost you just pennies a month.
It’s part of a program started by the Schools Foundation, called “Sign Up to Round Up,” and it’s as simple as allowing Huntsville Utilities to round up your bill to the nearest dollar each month.
The money goes to the Schools Foundation to help offer professional development for teachers and support for students in all three school districts.
While you many only donate a few cents a month, it adds up in a big way.
“Without Sign Up to Round Up, we would have to scale back some of our program areas,” said Elizabeth Fleming, Executive Director of the Schools Foundation. “[Donating] really is painless. You really don’t miss those 60 or 13 cents any time.”
Fleming says so far only a fraction of Huntsville Utilities’ 135,000 customers have signed up.
“We’re right at 2,800 people. So, I’m excited about the growth opportunities there,” Fleming said.
To sign up all you have to do is check a box on your next utilities bill, or sign up on the Schools Foundation website.
