Tinsel Trail (2012)

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – If you need some decorating ideas for your Christmas tree, we know the perfect place to see lots of creativity.

The Downtown 47 Tinsel Trail is back for its third year at Big Spring Park. It’s next to the ice skating rink behind the Huntsville Museum of Art.

The trail is open from November 29 – January 1, 2014.  The display is free to the public.  Trees are lit from dusk until midnight.

Local businesses and groups sponsor more than 200 trees along the trail, decorating them in various themes.  WHNT News 19 has a tree, and our elves are decorating the tree today!  Look for pictures this afternoon.

The Downtown 47, which presents the Tinsel Trail, is a nonprofit charitable organization.  All funds raised cover the cost of the project.  Proceeds will be invested in 2014 downtown Huntsville development projects.  Read more about the group’s mission.
