Football Friday Weather: A Damp Night for Playoff Games

Football400x225

Tonight will not be a pretty, comfortable night for football like some we have had this Fall; in fact, expect the bleachers to be wet, the grass to be damp, and at least a small chance of some light rain here and there for tonight’s games.

So what about the evening? It looks like most of the rain will be south of the Tennessee Valley through the evening, but even that rain will be light.

It only takes about a tenth of an inch to make you feel like you’ve been in a downpour, so if your game is south of US 278 tonight in the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston area, you need to have your poncho, rain coat, or umbrella. Games north of US 278 up into Tennessee look mostly dry – but still damp following today’s rain.

You’ll also want to take something to keep you warm. Once this front passes, temperatures start dropping and the wind really picks up from the north!

A QUICK NOTE ABOUT THE COLD WEATHER:

It’s going to be getting much colder for the weekend, and there is a little potential for some light wintry precipitation early Tuesday and again on Wednesday. We do not expect any significant accumulations of snow or ice, but it will be interesting to see some pre-Thanksgiving flakes. Don’t look for it to cause any significant travel problems.
