SARDIS, Ala. (WHNT)– Christian Blade Ogle, a senior at Sardis High School in Etowah County, died Saturday from injuries he sustained Friday in a car crash.
“Number 56 on the football team, starting lineman. I don’t know any other way to describe him other than that big tough teddy bear,” said Principal Wendy Gibbs. “Everyone liked him. He always had a smile on his face. Always had a joke to tell.”
Gibbs says counselors came from other schools in Etowah County on Monday to help students deal with the loss.
“Probably one of the most stressful situations I’ve ever had to deal with,” said Gibbs. “The students have been great, amongst themselves. They are really trying to take care of each other.”
Ogle was a passenger in a car that wrecked Friday afternoon on Mountain View Drive. The 18-year-old driver and a 15-year-old who was also a passenger were hurt. Both are also students at Sardis.
“We’ve encouraged the teachers today to just kind of put curriculum aside,” said Gibbs. “They are doing writing. They are doing drawing. They are making cards and letters for the other two students that were injured.”
