Streets Closed Downtown for Veterans Day Parade
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Several streets in downtown Huntsville will be closed today for the Veterans Day parade.
Huntsville Police will close the roads in stages. The first closures begin at 8:00 this morning. All of the roads will be closed by 10:45 for the parade that begins at 11:00 a.m.
Parade participants will begin at Parking Lot “K” at Clinton and Woodson Avenue. They will then travel east on Clinton, turn right onto Monroe Street, then turn left onto Williams Avenue. The route will then head north on Green Street, when it intersects with Monroe, the parade will travel west and then south on Monroe. Participants will then go west on Holmes before turning left on Woodson, ending back at Parking Lot “K” once again.
The parade should be finished, and all roads re-open, by 1:15 p.m.
If you have to drive downtown around the time of the parade, you should expect slow moving detours. There will also be a larger than usual number of pedestrians in the area, so drivers are encouraged to use caution.
