Update: Early-Morning Shooting in Huntsville; One Person Injured

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -Police are investigating an early-morning shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

Police issued an alert just after 5:00 a.m. about a shooting in the 2800 block of Mallory Avenue.

Neighbors reported hearing several gunshots in the area near the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and Pulaski Pike around 4:45 a.m.

Police believe the shooting occurred nearby at the intersection of Norton Avenue and LaSalle Road.

Officers found one victim, Coyle McCaulley, 33, with several gunshot wounds to the abdomen.  Paramedics took McCaulley to Huntsville Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The other two people who ran from the shooters were not hurt.

Police taped off several areas as they searched for the shooter or shooters.  They believe the suspects sped away in a burgundy-colored Chevrolet Blazer.
