MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A Madison County Sheriff's deputy was hit from behind in his patrol car Friday on Moores Mill Road.

The sheriff's office said the incident happened just after 11 a.m. near Helena Drive.

The driver of a white truck apparently hit the patrol car from behind, and the deputy flipped into a ditch.  The deputy is okay, but was taken to Huntsville Hospital as a precaution, according to Chief Deputy Chris Stephens.

Alabama State Troopers are on the scene investigating.  They are interviewing the driver of the truck, who was not hurt.
