HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) – One person died in a wreck Monday morning in Hazel Green.

Alabama State Troopers say Jack E. Carney, 42, of Powell, Tennessee died when the 2007 Ford he was driving left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

This happened about 6:25 a.m. on Joe Quick Road at Narrow Lane, about 10 miles north of Huntsville.

Carney died at the scene.  Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt.

Huntsville Utilities repaired the damage to the pole.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.  They say speed was a factor.
