BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WHNT) - Several teachers from the area are giving up personal time to learn about the military and the people who serve.

The educators are participating in the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Teacher Ambassador Program.

The community outreach program is designed to form partnerships with local schools to promote teaching about veterans and patriotism.

WHNT News 19's Venton Blandin, one of several veterans at our station, attended a recent workshop to share his Marine Corps experience with teachers.
