LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The driver of a tractor trailer is dead after a wreck in Lawrence County.

Alabama State Troopers and the Moulton Fire Department responded to Highway 33 South of Moulton around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

That’s in Bankhead National Forest.

Investigators say the driver ran off the right side of the road, over-corrected, then ran off the left side of the road before ending up in a ravine in the woods.

Authorities say the fuel tank ignited.  The tractor trailer along with some of the surrounding woods caught fire as a result.

The driver was found dead on the scene.
