MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – Madison Police have arrested two people and charged them in Wednesday’s murder at Carrington Cove Apartments.

The victim, Bradley Antwon Hayes, 27, was shot in the chest by a small-caliber handgun. He was rushed to Huntsville Hospital, where he died.

Madison Police investigated several leads through the afternoon into the night along with Huntsville Police and Madison County Sheriff’s deputies. They arrested Mario Xavier Twitty, 19, of Madison, and Labrian Lashun Scruggs, 21, of Huntsville.

Both Twitty and Scruggs are charged with murder. They are being held in the Madison County Metro Jail on $75,000 bond each.

Police continue the investigation but say it appears Hayes was shot during a drug deal and attempted robbery. Police recovered some marijuana and the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

Carrington Cove Apartments are located on Flagstone Drive.

The residents of Carrington Cove have been advised that individuals involved were not residents of Carrington Cove Apartments. This is all well and good, but I want to know why these individuals were on the premises. From where the police tape was, this happened deep into the apartment complex and does not seem random. Does the victim have ties to someone in the complex?
