GRANT, Ala. (WHNT) -- An investigation into a Grant gas station leads to its owner facing several charges.
Marshall County deputies say it all started with a complaint from parents, that their high school teens were getting the drug spice from a gas station.
That's when deputies started investigating the Country Farm gas station in Grant. When they were able to buy it posed as regular customers, that's when they arrested Rasiklal Patel, the store's owner.
Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls says the department takes something like this very seriously. "Spice has a history of being more dangerous than even marijuana. It's just coming into being in the last few years, popular among high school students."
Sheriff Walls says this store has been under investigation in the past."This is the second time we've been there with this particular owner, the third time through the past we've been at this store, dealing with various other things to do with narcotic sales."
He says Patel is facing charges that include drug trafficking. Patel was being held with an 80 thousand dollar bond in the Marshall County jail, but early Thursday afternoon deputies say he posted bail.
