FLORENCE,  Ala. (WHNT) - Shea Thompson is a kindergarten teacher at Forest Hills Elementary whose classroom environment is full of encouragement in the form of hand claps and thumbs-up. Now, she's getting a little pat on the back herself through our Tools for Teachers award.

Brandie and Paul Dunstan, parents of one of Ms. Thompson's kindergartners, appreciated the passion and commitment to their son's education so much that they took the time nominate this nine year educator for the honor. Ms.Thompson says that is the payoff for all the hard work.

"When you hear parents pat you on the back, and you receive a reward like this, it makes that all worthwhile."

In addition to the much deserved recognition, Ms. Thompson also received the 319 dollar award that each Tools for Teachers honoree gets to spend in their classroom as they see fit.

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal, or aide, tells us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
