PISGAH, Ala. (WHNT) - Katrina Wheeler teaches 5th and 6th grade math at Pisgah School and is our first Tools for Teachers award recipient of the new school year.

Assistant principal Bill Shelton says Ms. Wheeler keeps her kids engaged in their lessons by first showing that she cares.

"Students that go into her class always know she cares about them and to me that’s  a big hurdle you have to get over if you expect to get the best out of the child," said Shelton.

Of course, caring about her students is something that comes naturally to Ms. Wheeler.

"I feel like it was a calling from God and that’s a reward that God has blessed  me with, being here at Pisgah School, and I have just wonderful kids," said Wheeler.

If you know a worthy teacher, coach, principal or aide, tells us about them through the Tools for Teachers nomination form.
