‘I Charleston Huntsville’ Joins Worldwide Dance Craze
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A world movement called the “I Charleston” has become an internet sensation. Local dancers are participating, too.
Individual groups like ‘I Charleston Huntsville’ film members doing the Charleston, a popular swing dance, in unique places around their city.
There are groups like these all over the world. These videos raise awareness about each city, and hopefully encourage people to visit.
Huntsville’s participation in ‘I Charleston’ will feature places in town like the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, The Botanical Gardens, and Lowe Mill.
“We came up with the great idea of doing ‘I Charleston Huntsville’ because, one, there is a great swing dancing scene here in Huntsville, and also, there are little tidbits of places to see and thing to do here in Huntsville as well,” said Huy Huynh, the choreographer.
Anyone can come and swing dance with ‘I Charleston Huntsville.’ The group meets at Lowe Mill on Thursdays.
