Former Lincoln County Utilities Superintendent Indicted on Theft Charge
LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. (WHNT) – The former superintendent of the Lincoln County Board of Public Utilities was arrested on Wednesday on a theft charge after being the target of an investigation, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Billy Joe Wiley, 66, of Fayeteville was indicted on one count of theft over $60,000. This was the result of an audit report that discovered $293,779.22 had been awarded as bonuses and unworked overtime to employees of the Lincoln County Board of Public Utilities by Wiley without approval from the board of directors between January 2008 and December 2011.
Wiley was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on $10,000 bond.
