Guntersville Council To Look at New Grocery Store Proposal
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)– Monday night the Guntersville city council will look at a proposal for a new grocery store development. Mayor Leigh Dollar actually pushed the regular council meeting back a week, so that the plans would be put into place for the council to vote.
“I’ve seen some drawings and it looks like a big development,” said Kerry Jackson.
Jackson owns WTWX radio which sits next to the proposed location for the new store near the intersection of highways 431 and 79. He says developers have approached him about possibly buying some of his property.
“Over here to the side of the radio station over here there is a vacant lot. And they said part of the lot might be used for parking.”
While no one will say officially what chain might be coming to down, rumors have circulated for several years that it will be a Publix. It’s not clear if the name will be revealed at Monday night’s meeting.
