FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – Police say a man’s attempt to rob a bank in Florence this morning was quickly foiled.

This happened just before 8 a.m. at First Metro Bank, at the corner of Ana Drive and Hough Road.  A female employee was going in a side door to open the bank.

A man was waiting, and tried to follow her in.  He was wearing a clown mask and had a duffel bag.

However.. the employee acted quickly and locked the door before the man could get inside.

Police are looking for the man south of Regency Square Mall.  They are using K9 units in the search.  If they arrest him, he’ll be charged with robbery, even though he didn’t get any money.
