COURTLAND-Most high school football teams would feel at least a tinge of satisfaction after making it to the second round of the playoffs, but when you come from a program that’s won five state titles and made numerous other Final Four trips, second round’s just not going to cut it. Class 1A powerhouse R.A. Hubbard is looking to bounce back for a deeper run this fall. Injuries have plagued the Chiefs the last few seasons, but they’ve got some key returning starters, especially up front on the Offensive Line. Depth seems to be the primary concern for Hubbard at the moment. Chief’s Head Coach Nicholas Vinson says the advantage his team may have this year isn’t one that’s necessarily measured in the stat book. The Chiefs are headlined by Senior Free Safety John Owen, one of several speedsters on the squad. Hubbard opens the season Friday at home against Hatton.
