A photo of a legless Marine being carried on his wife’s back has spread like wildfire across the web.
Jesse Cottle reportedly stepped on an IED in 2009 and lost both of his legs. The 28-year-old Marine was stationed in Afghanistan.
Eventually, Cottle met his wife Kelly and the two were married in August of last year. “His personality and who he is just outweighs his injuries by so much that you forget about it after a while,” Kelly told ABC News.
The couple became a viral hit after having some professional portraits taken while visiting family in Boise, Idaho. One of the photos, showing Kelly carrying her husband on her back, was posted by the photographer, Sarah Ledford, on her studio’s Facebook page and immediately started attracting likes and shares.
In response to the photo’s fame, Cottle told ABC News, “She’s physically carrying me, but there’s times where she’s carrying me emotionally. It’s a perfect representation of who Kelly is.”
