A Gift From Jeff Cook, That Affects A Community
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Every year, hundreds of people come out to the festival to celebrate the birthday of a member of the band Alabama. Tomorrow though, Jeff Cook will be giving out a present of his own, that will affect a community.
Over the last three years employees at the United Way of Marshall County have gone to Jeff Cook Day, and came back with a gift of their own. It’s a check, signed by Jeff Cook.
For twenty thousand dollars.
United Way Executive Director Jeannie Lyle says that money helps United Way in many different areas. ”It is much needed. The agency serves one out of every three people right here in Marshall County.”
Lyle says United Way makes that twenty thousand dollars reach as many people as possible. ”What we do is put it into our community fund to help fund our twenty-one partner agencies that focus on education, income and health.”
Lyle says some of those agencies are the ARC of Marshall County and Meals on Wheels.
She says it’s a great way to celebrate Cook’s Birthday, and thank him for what he’s done.
