ST. JOSEPH, La. (WHNT) – A hostage situation at a bank in Louisiana has come to an end. The attacker held hostages at gunpoint and shot them as authorities moved in to end the situation.
The hostage situation lasted for 12 hours. Authorities say the gunman had no intention of robbing the bank. Instead, he was trying to make a statement.
The suspect is identified as 20-year-old Fuaed Abdo Ahmed.
Authorities describe him as a schizophrenic.
He released one woman throughout the ordeal. The SWAT Team set a deadline to make a move at midnight. Negotiations broke down, and that’s when they moved in. That’s when Ahmed shot the hostages.
