HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The search for a man who police say shot two men in the parking lot of the Eagle Side Apartments at 4515 Bonnell Drive Friday afternoon is still on, and the victims are in Huntsville Hospital with serious injuries.
According to Huntsville Police 22-year-old Charlie Dupree Harris and Genoris Smith, 31, reported they were inside a vehicle parked in the apartment complex parking lot when an unidentified man approached the vehicle and initiated a conversation with the driver of the vehicle.
According to police reports the offender then pulled a handgun and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, striking the victims numerous times. Police say the offender took cash and other personal property from the vehicle before taking off on foot.
The two men who were shot ran to St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church on Sparkman Drive, four blocks away. Pastor T.C. Johnson said the two were taken by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital.
A mail carrier’s truck was also involved somehow. The truck was parked on Bonnell and had blood on part of the front hood. The mail carrier was not physically hurt, but visibly shaken after the incident.
“I’m so scared,” he told WHNT News 19’s Venton Blandin. “I thought I was being shot.”
