(WHNT) – Slow-moving, heavy thunderstorms are rumbling through the Tennessee Valley; they are moving east at around 10 to 20 MPH producing gusty winds over 40 MPH, tremendous rainfall, and frequent lightning.

One home has been struck by lightning near Elkmont on Sandlin Road in Limestone County:

NWS HUN: 3 ESE Elkmont [Limestone Co, AL] Emergency management reports LIGHTNING at 03:00 PM CDT — lightning damaged a house at the intersection of Sandlin Street and Bethel Road.

Additional heavy rain is likely with new storms developing around The Shoals this evening. We’ll keep you posted!
