HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Doors of opportunity are opening for students at J.F. Drake State Technical College. School leaders signed a monumental alliance today with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

"A lot of times when a person has an idea for a business they have the nucleus of what it is they want to do," said Tom Todt with the U.S. Small Business Administration. "Sometimes they lack knowledge about the resources available to help them do it." That won't be an issue for students at the school anymore. Today the SBA signed a strategic alliance memorandum. It offers useful tools for Drake State's students who want to start a business.

"Our students have managed to start businesses and many of them have done well.  But I think that this is a well oiled plan for success," said Helen McAlpine, the president of Drake State. McAlpine said the partnership will further her students' success with establishing their own business.
