TENNESSEE VALLEY (WHNT) - Wouldn't it be great to find out if you had money waiting on you to claim it?

WHNT News 19 is taking action to reunite people with money they may not have known they had. We hosted a phone bank Monday evening and many people have had success!

Following WHNT News 19's Taking Action event, between Monday at 5 p.m. and Tuesday at 3 p.m. people have claimed $403,563.  This includes the largest claim of $127,000!  There have been 240 claims by phone and 375 claims through the website.

If you tried the number but weren't able to get through, you can still call.  We did this in conjunction with Alabama's Unclaimed Property Program, which is run through the State Treasurer's Office.  The number is 1-888-844-8400 and the office is open Monday through Friday during normal business hours.  The phone line was still busy Tuesday, and so was the website, Moneyquest.alabama.gov.

If you want to check other states where you may have claims - for example, if you've moved around, visit Missingmoney.com.
