HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - One day after being put on Tennessee's Most Wanted List, a suspected child rapist is waking up behind bars in Huntsville.

At about 1:30 a.m. Friday, patrons leaving the Voodoo Lounge recognized 24-year-old Anthony Dean Blackwell and called police. Several officers rushed to the area. They found Blackwell near the fountain at Big Spring Park and arrested him without incident.

The details of this case are very disturbing.

The TBI and Pulaski Police say Blackwell was babysitting a 4-month-old baby at a home in Pulaski recently.  When the child’s mother returned home, she noticed signs of trauma to the child.  Police say the mother immediately took the child to a hospital.  The infant underwent surgery at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Blackwell once lived on Johnson Road in Huntsville, but property managers say he moved away four years ago.  He will be extradited back to Pulaski to face charges there.

Blackwell has a criminal record with charges including public intoxication, reckless driving, evading arrest, vandalism, traffic and noise violations, and driving under the influence. He has been arrested in Pulaski as well as Maury County, TN.

There was a $1,000 reward for information leading to Blackwell’s arrest.
