Part 3: Appreciating the Military and Armed Forces Week
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – In this segment of Leadership Perspectives, Paul Finley asks General Dennis Via what he wishes people understood.
General Via said mainly, the sacrifice military servicemen and women make, and their families. Less than 1 percent of Americans volunteer to serve in our Armed Forces.
“It’s so appropriate that we pay recognition to them on Armed Forces Day, and especially with Armed Forces Week, with what Huntsville/Madison County, the Tennessee Valley is doing, which I think is just wonderful,” Gen. Via said.
Finley and General Via also talked about the impact of the tornadoes on military families here. General Via said he saw how the community came together, and he knew something was special about north Alabama.
“That speaks volumes about this community and why people decide to stay.”
